TMI Makes it to TV!!

So it was announced that The Mortal Instruments TV show will go straight to series on ABC Family!! I think this is wonderful news because hopefully ABC family can do this adaptation right! From the looks of it, they are starting it off well because we see a lot of involvement from Cassandra Clare in this process!

This is what The Hollywood Reporter said:

  The Mortal Instruments business.
The youth-skewing cable network has handed out a straight-to-series order for Shadowhunters, a drama based on author Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments book series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Constantin Film will produce, and Ed Decter (Helix, Unforgettable, The Client List) is on board to serve as showrunner and executive producer. The drama is being eyed as a 13 episode drama with a premiere date not yet determined; casting is expected to be announced at a later date. Production will begin in May in Toronto.
The news comes months after Constantin announced that Clare's franchise will relaunch as a high-end drama series. Shadowhunters becomes the latest adaptation of the franchise.
“Shadowhunters is a big, epic saga that will resonate with viewers who come to ABC Family for the Harry Potter, Hunger Games and Twilight franchises,” ABC Family president Tom Ascheim said. “A New York Times best-seller for 122-consecutive weeks, with over 35 million copies in print worldwide, Shadowhunters is the perfect story to share with our audience."
For ABC Family, Shadowhunters comes as the Disney-owned cable network is plotting a rebranding to target older viewers and families alike. It joins a scripted drama roster that also includes Chasing Life, The Fosters, Pretty Little Liars as well as upcoming entries Stitchers and Recovery Road.
And here are a couple of tweets showing Cassandra Clare's involvement:
I met with the writers for the Shadowhunters show, and the network.

I have more meetings tomorrow and right now I can't say too much, but everything went well.
Soon I'll be able to tell you when they start filming, and when they will start airing.

I can say that the scripts etc that have been floating around are not real, there's no Natalie either. :)

The show is not yet cast. They are having auditions now.

I watched a few. :)
: " are you pleased with the people auditioning?” I don't know who will be picked, but there's some great people!

: " any word on if they will start the show on book one or after the movie?” It starts from the beginning.

: " do you think it will be transmitted worldwide?” I'll try to find out what countries.

I haven't read a final script. (I mean, as much as final scripts even exist.)

Oh, and there will definite be Magnus and Alec romance. That was a promise. :)

: do you think it will take long until we know more about the script, cast, etc ?” Not long.

: " what about clary and simon's friendship?? Im so worried about that :(” It seems included.

: " any plans for TID to be included in the shadowhunters tv show? Or just TMI at this point?” I think that would be separate?

Cassandra Clare retweeted Cassandra Clare
: " The age stuff, is it true? Are the characters going to be older? xx” Yes.

: " Can you tell us something you really would like to see in the series (and not be changed or cut out)?.” Jace's humor.
So, what are your opinions on these events? Personally, I'm very happy to see this happen. The movie did not give this series justice and the movie was just really bad. Hopefully ABC Family can do this series the justice it deserves!

Book Cover Tuesday: Eon

Hey everyone! So every Tuesday I'm going to try and post the cover of a book that I feel is spectacular!

This weeks Book Cover is Eon by Alison Goodman!

This cover is absolutely gorgeous! I especially love that dragon!! This was one of my favorite books that I read last year and I'm so upset that it was only a duology! I really want to go back into this world! I loved all the characters and the world building too! If you get a chance, you should definitely check this one out!

Here's a little info from Goodreads:

Sixteen-year-old Eon has a dream, and a mission. For years, he's been studying sword-work and magic, toward one end. He and his master hope that he will be chosen as a Dragoneye-an apprentice to one of the twelve energy dragons of good fortune.

But Eon has a dangerous secret. He is actually Eona, a sixteen-year-old girl who has been masquerading as a twelve-year-old boy. Females are forbidden to use Dragon Magic; if anyone discovers she has been hiding in plain sight, her death is assured.

When Eon's secret threatens to come to light, she and her allies are plunged into grave danger and a deadly struggle for the Imperial throne. Eon must find the strength and inner power to battle those who want to take her magic...and her life.

Review: A Darker Shade of Magic

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
Publication: February 24, 2015
Publisher: Tor Books
Pages: 400

Kell is one of the last Travelers—rare magicians who choose a parallel universe to visit.

Grey London is dirty, boring, lacks magic, ruled by mad King George. Red London is where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. White London is ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. People fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. Once there was Black London - but no one speaks of that now.

Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see. This dangerous hobby sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs afoul of Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She robs him, saves him from a dangerous enemy, then forces him to another world for her 'proper adventure'.

But perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, Kell and Lila will first need to stay alive — trickier than they hoped.

Lately I've been reading a lot of fantasy and its fantastic! This book goes right up there with the best fantasies! I instantly fell in love with this book and I can't wait to read more. I love the idea of the parallel Londons and the magic was amazing! If you've read my previous reviews, you could probably tell that I really love books that involve magic and fantasy so this one dragged me in. I also have to say how awesome this cover looks!

This world building was absolutely amazing! Schwab gives us so much details and I know of a couple of books that have really lacked in this department, however, Schwab does this perfectly. I love the idea of the parallel Londons, Red, Gray, White, and the now destroyed Black. White London is possibly the strongest remaining London, but nobody actually knows this because it has almost been destroyed by Black and the people living there live in poverty. Red London is the second strongest and the people their live in luxury with no problems. Grey London is like the normal human realm, with no magic. If you read this book, Kell describes the Londons very well, comparing them to a book. I took a test that determines which London you would probably reside in and I got Red London! This is what the site said "Congratulations, you whimsical creature, you belong in the vibrant city of Red London, a place where magic lives in everything. Take a stroll through the Night Market, and pick up a sea stone or a fire maker or a mask for the prince’s ball." (link here) The magic was also so exceptional and I love the idea of the Antari, the few that can travel between the Londons and use all forms of magic. Towards the end of the book I couldn't sit still. I was squirming in my bad with anticipation.

I love Kell. I love how caring he is to Lila and that he would protect her from everything. He came back when she was in trouble even when he had no idea who she was and even though she robbed him. One of the coolest things about Kell is his ability to use all five of the elements, earth, water, fire, air, and blood or bone. Also, he has this incredible jacket which has about 8 or 9 known coat in one. Kell states that he often loses some of the coats and that he actually doesn't know how many coats there actually are. I love the relationship that Kell and Lila have. They make me laugh when they are together. They're so cute together. I also love Lila so much. She's so strong minded, intelligent, and cunning. She's one of those 'take no bull' kind of girls and I love it! She has to go through such hardships and it pains me. However, she's still able to survive and act like nothing effects her. She's amazing at hiding her feelings and what she's thinking.

Then there's Rhy, the gorgeous and flirtatious prince who is Kell's brother in every sense but blood. He's a real sweetheart and really loves Kell and is constantly worrying about him. Holland, the evil Antari that is being held hostage by the White rulers. And then finally, the evil Astrid and Athos Danes, the rulers of White London. I don't like these people at all. They're sneaky, conniving, and evil people.

Overall, this book was incredibly fantastic. This is probably one of the best books of 2015 so far and I highly recommend that everyone go check this book out! I instantly fell in love with this world (or should I say multiple worlds), its characters, and its magic, both good and bad. Now I have to wait for what feels like forever for the next one and I can't wait!!
